With this CIE Tours International self drive vacation you can plan your own itinerary and select your overnight stops. Start your travels in either Shannon or Dublin when you pick up a current model car of your choice with unlimited mileage. We supply you with vouchers for each overnight stay, accommodation directories, a road map and a guide book with suggested itineraries and information on Ireland.

Choose from two accommodation options: B & Bs (farmhouses and town & country homes) or first class hotels. With either selection you can be assured of top quality lodgings and excellent value for money. If you wish we will prebook your first night near Shannon (this must be requested at time of booking only) and the balance of your stay is on an open voucher basis to allow maximum flexibility in your vacation.

B & Bs - Homestays

This program is designed for those of you who wish to discover the Irish countryside and sample country living. You can choose from over 2,200 private homes located in every part of Ireland. Over 1,600 are members of the Town & Country Homes Association and 600 are with the Irish Farmhouse Holidays Association. Some houses date back a century or more while others are modern. All residences are inspected regularly to ensure good standards of comfort and hygiene. The limited number of Dublin homes on this program are frequently booked out so you may need to upgrade to hotels in the capital city. You will receive two listings, one for each association, with information on where your vouchers will be accepted. Your prepaid voucher includes a room with private bathroom facilities and a full Irish breakfast.

You may use a B & B voucher to upgrade to any hotel on the CIE Tours Go-as-you-Please program. You will receive a hotel directory which lists these supplements with your travel documents. Simply present a homestay voucher to any participating hotel and pay the upgrade supplement indicated in the hotel listing when you check in.

Hotels

We feature over 200 hotels strategically located all around Ireland so that you can plan a touring vacation or stay for a while in one location. We have put together a selection of properties including a variety of old-world country inns and modern hotels. All hotels feature a restaurant, bar, lounge facilities and many have leisure centers. Guestrooms have private bath or shower, TV, hair-dryer and other comforts. Full breakfast is included each morning.

All hotels are routinely checked to ensure excellent standards of facilities, food and service. The directory that you will receive with your final documents includes details about each hotel. Rates in this program are based on first class hotels but you may upgrade to a selection of superior and deluxe properties — the supplements are listed in the hotel directory and should be paid to the hotel on arrival. If you wish, we will reserve the first night at time of booking and then you simply call ahead as you travel through Ireland. If you would like to sample a B & B for a night or two, you may use the hotel voucher at any home featured in the B & B listings which will be included with your documents.

Pre-Pay Car Hire Insurance & Save Up to 30%!

Save up to 30% when you purchase Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection insurance (TP) at time of booking. Prices in the green columns below include these two insurance policies (CDW/TP). Please refer to the car hire conditions in General Conditions for additional information.

Departure Dates & Rates

Rates are land only, per person, per day, based on double occupancy and a minimum of 7 nights/7 days. Rates for fewer than 7 days on request. Single room supplements are payable direct per day: B&Bs $15, Hotels $35. Reduction for children under 12 sharing room with 2 adults per day: B&Bs $15,  in hotels stay free but pay direct for food. Dublin homestays (B&B) supplements of $7.50 per room, per night apply June to September and are payable direct. Please ask about our special air fares to Ireland (see samples above). Car rental company reserves the right to substitute cars for other models in similar category.
